NEW PARTERNSHIP BRINGS MORE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TOOLS TO PUREBRED BREEDERS’ CUSTOMERS

Cooper City, FL — Purebred Breeders and PetKey, a family of pet services, have established a partnership to bring new Purebred Breeders customers across the United States and Canada, the DOGstar package, a comprehensive resource for dog owners throughout the dog’s lifetime.  The DOGstar package that debuted in March 2013 is meant to equip puppy owners with knowledge and assist them with training.  The package includes:

  • New Puppy Kit with Puppy DVD and Unlimited, Online, Lifetime access to the Online Video Library
  • Lifetime Behavioral support from certified dog behaviorists through DOGstar training

Purebred Breeders consolidates the country’s best purebred and designer breed dog breeders into a network that places healthy, happy puppies into loving, forever homes.  The DOGstar package was the result of a strategic partnership to further enhance Purebred Breeders’ mission of being a resource for puppy parents and puppy education.

“The number one reason why dogs end up in shelters is because of trainable behavior problems,” stated Brian Donovan, President of PetKey.  “Purebred Breeders doesn’t place dogs into temporary homes, our puppies go to homes that accept them as part of their family.  Behavioral issues that are solvable through training should be an opportunity to further the bond with your dog and reaffirm their place in your home” said Keryn Rod, a spokesperson for the organization.

Research from the National Council on Pet Population Study & Policy demonstrated that more than 20 percent of people who leave dogs in shelters adopted them from a shelter, with the top reasons for relinquishment of ownership being related to trainable behavioral issues.  “More than 99 percent of our puppies stay in their original homes, less than one percent go through a rehoming process”, stated Rod, “we are partnering with DOGstar to ensure that that number goes up to 100.”

The new DOGstar package will provide the necessary tools to educate your puppy or dog with housebreaking, crate training, socialization, chewing, basic commands, grooming, and more, for just a one-time fee.

Meritless Claim Against Purebred Breeders LLC Dismissed

- Humane Society of the United States Loses in Court Again-

Miami, Fla. – A Circuit Court Judge in Miami-Dade County last month dismissed a lawsuit against Purebred Breeders LLC [Case Number: 11-38180 CA02], a small business working with reputable dog breeders.  The court determined that the Humane Society of the United States (“HSUS”), which sponsored the lawsuit, completely failed to justify their allegations. The activist group filed its lawsuit through HSUS’s in-house senior attorney Kimberly Ockene against Purebred Breeders, which is a family-owned Florida business that connects well-raised puppies with loving families hoping to find a new addition to their home.  Ms. Ockene is currently being sued in federal court for conspiracy under the RICO Act as described below.

Purebred Breeders filed a successful Motion to Dismiss the complaint, asserting that HSUS failed to justify its allegations.   According to Purebred Breeders, the activist group’s complaint was just another attempt to influence the public against purchasing pets. Brian Bresnahan of York News Times discussed this tactic in his article The Governor and HSUS, “HSUS is an animal rights group which believes animals should have the same rights as people (erasing the line between people, pets, and livestock and between animal welfare and animal rights), promoting vegetarian/veganism, stopping animal agriculture, and banning animals like cats and dogs from being owned as pets.” Purebred Breeders advisor, Brent Gattis, former Deputy Chief of Staff for the House Committee on Agriculture, states that “HSUS is well-known for coordinating purported legal claims for publicity against responsible organizations and individuals. The Humane Society of the United States raises funds for its lawsuits and lobbying activities while leading the public to believe that the donations are supporting local shelters.”

Currently the HSUS is being investigated by the IRS for tax fraud [Case File Number 29-92012] and six members of Congress joined the call for the IRS to act when they filed a letter with the Office of Inspector General Eric Thorson last year. In this letter the members of Congress wrote “HSUS continually seeks donations through advertisements that claim the money will be used to help neglected or abused animals. The commercials deliberately lead the public to believe direct aid to animals is the main activity of the organization, as does the misleading similarity between the name of HSUS and the hundreds of local hands-on animal sheltering humane societies across America, which are wholly unaffiliated with HSUS and receive zero funding from it. However a line by line review of HSUS’s 2008 Form 990 by HumaneWatch.org showed that less than one-half of one percent of HSUS’s $99.8 million budget goes towards hands-on sheltering activities, and in 2009 that number rose to only 0.8%.”

Mr. Gattis continues “Purebred Breeders experience in defending itself against legal claims is typical of the attacks other animal organizations and individuals have endured at the hands of HSUS’s large stable of attorneys. HSUS’s strategy against legitimate entities is this:  force them to defend themselves in protracted legal battles over meritless claims, while also creating a false public perception of the group being attacked.”

Purebred Breeders has joined other animal professionals in pushing back against HSUS’s agenda. A ten-year legal battle on a lawsuit brought by the HSUS activist group against Feld Entertainment, owners of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, was ultimately dismissed.  Feld has now brought a Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations claim against the activist group [Case Number: 07-1532 (EGS)] based on information uncovered during the HSUS lawsuit.  Feld Entertainment has alleged that HSUS engaged in an elaborate racketeering and conspiracy scheme involving at least one paid witness, obstruction of justice, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and malicious prosecution. HSUS in-house senior attorney, Kimberly Ockene, who filed the legal complaint against Purebred Breeders has also been named individually in the Feld RICO case.  HSUS and Ockene filed motions to dismiss the claims.  These motions have been largely denied and the case is moving forward against them.

PUREBRED BREEDERS DONATES TO AUSTIN DOG RESCUE

COOPER CITY, FL — Purebred Breeders, a national network of professional dog breeders, donated $500 to the Austin Dog Rescue, an all-volunteer non-profit that provides veterinary care, housing and adoption services to stray and abandoned animals.

Austin Dog Rescue has been rescuing dogs since 2006 and has had a positive impact on the lives of more than 1,000 homeless dogs that would have otherwise been euthanized.  The organization runs on an all-volunteer staff that welcomes dogs into their homes to be rehabilitated and cared for until a permanent home can be found.

The non-profit has an extensive screening process, as well as detailed requirements for its potential owners, which includes going home immediately after work every day in order to spend quality time with their dog. If the puppy is under 8 months old, then a commitment of going home once or twice a day to check on and interact with the puppy is required.

The donation will be used at the Austin Dog Rescue’s discretion, and can include heartworm treatments or correcting a broken bone.

Jeff Hill, the Purebred Breeders’ donation program’s spokesperson, explained, “The number of dogs euthanized in the United States is alarming, an estimated 2.5 million dogs are met with this kind of untimely death every year.  Supporting organizations like Austin Dog Rescue helps to lower that number.”

This donation is part of Purebred Breeders’ monthly donation program to take initiatives in philanthropic causes that support our canine companions.

14 Tips to Help Puppy-Proof Your Home – Purebredbreeders.com

Puppies are cute, energetic, naturally curious and are born explorers. This is why they are such a bundle of joy to have around. However, their “exploring” may result in situations which are harmful, therefore, you will have to take some steps to puppy-proof your home before bringing home your new puppy, this will ensure that he or she remains safe. Puppy-proofing your home is quite similar to baby-proofing your home and just as important, so here are some tips from us at Purebredbreeders.com to help you get ready for your canine friend’s arrival.

Household Hazards

  • Find out which plants in your home are potentially poisonous for pets and keep them away from your pet or simply replace those plants with nontoxic ones. Poisonous indoor plants may include Calla lily, philodendron, azalea, and dieffenbachia.
  • Do not leave you or your pet’s medication in their reach. Puppies are quite adept at pulling things off surfaces such as end tables and they can easily chew through plastic containers.
  • Keep the lid of your toilet closed as it may become a hazard for drowning. If swallowed, toilet cleansers can also be harmful to your puppy, so keep them out of reach.
  • We at Purebredbreeders.com also recommend that you place your cleaning supplies in the higher cupboards or secure them in lower ones as these may be harmful to the eyes and lungs of your puppy if he or she is exposed to them.
  • Carefully place your furniture to avoid accidents. The tail of your curious puppy can be harmed by a rocking chair, for example.
  • Puppies often chew on electrical cords and this can result in mouth burns or electrocution. Therefore Purebredbreeders.com suggests that you tie loose electric cords and keep them out of reach. The same also goes for your blinds and drapery cords which can cause strangulation.
  • Fire and open flames can be dangerous for an unattended puppy, so wood stoves and fireplaces should be monitored when in use and turned off otherwise.
  • Clothing such as underwear, nylons, and socks should be kept out of reach, as well as, small objects such as jewelry, coins, needles and pins. Remember that if swallowed they may cause intestinal problems.

Outside Hazards

  • When outdoors, you can prevent your puppy from straying if you build a kennel or provide fencing that is secure.
  • Common outdoor plants such as foxglove and morning glory can be poisonous for your puppy so find away to prevent contact.
  • Ensure that things such as lawn fertilizers, insecticides and gasoline are not within reach.
  • Barbeques and firing rings may also cause burns and should be kept out of your puppy’s reach.
  • Purebredbreeders.com implore you to keep hot tubs, ponds, and pools fenced off or covered as they are drowning hazards.

Owning a puppy comes with a lot of responsibilities, but the rewards outweigh the mundane tasks. Unfortunately, accidents can still happen no matter how careful you are so Purebredbreeders.com urges you to have the contact numbers of your veterinarian and a Pet Poison Helpline on speed-dial.  We do hope that these tips will help you to enjoy the company of your new friend in a safe and friendly environment.

Purebred Breeders: Hurricane Preparation Tips for Your Dog

Meta Description: Purebred Breeders shares emergency tips for dog owners during the hurricane season.

The hurricane season begins in June and ends in November and like all natural occurrences ample preparations should be made
months before the season begins. Purebred Breeders urges everyone to keep abreast on the latest meteorological updates. Bear in mind that the season will affect our canine friends, so their accommodation and safety must be viewed as important. You can never go wrong with planning ahead so think about the necessary precautions that you will need to take in order to prevent your pet from being hurt during this time.

Devise a plan (including evacuation) and try to get your pooch comfortable with evacuation drills. This way when the time actually arrives, evacuation will be less complicated. If your canine is on medication then it is best to ask your doctor for additional supply for the stormy season. Stocking up on flashlights, batteries, candles, non perishable food items, warm, thick blankets and storing clean  fresh water are things to consider in preparation for a hurricane. Purebred Breeders are saddened by news of injured dogs or even worse, the death of a dog during a hurricane. This can be avoided if the proper arrangements are in place. Hurricane preparation is quite simple. It only requires some extra time out of your schedule to plan ahead.

Avoid Spontaneity to Reduce Stress

Purebred Breeders recommends that dog owners try to avoid spur-of-the-moment ideas during a crisis. It is best to find out beforehand the closest animal shelter to your home so that your pooch can be transported to that location if the need arises to re-locate. Animal shelters are the ideal havens for your dogs during a terrible storm. They are fully equipped with appropriate facilities to keep your dog safe and  happy. Have a bag packed containing all of your dog’s important items and ensure that it is easily accessible to avoid wasting unnecessary time shuffling through the dark for your pup’s belongings.

Traveling

Your dog’s safety is at risk when you choose to venture out on the road during this time. Purebred Breeders also points out that this isn’t the best time either to leave your dog at home. A considerate dog owner ensures that the canine is always supervised  especially during a hurricane. Moreover, another important part of a dog owner’s preparation for the hurricane season is to find suitable calming techniques to prevent your pup from panicking and acting wild during the heavy rains and thunder claps. Some dogs especially the younger ones are easily frightened by a loud thunder roll. Given that this is the season when they will hear such things quite often, it is best to find ways to reduce your canine’s antics. Purebred Breeders recommends that dog owners spend some quality time with their canine. Get to know them more so that they are more responsive to the directives of their owners especially during this serious weather condition. Hurricane preparations can be a breeze but should not be taken lightly.

How Get Your Pooch to Stop Begging – Purebred Breeders LLC

Meta Desription: Purebred Breeders LLC suggest ways dog owners can stop canines from begging.

Begging at the dinner table is a popular habit amongst canines and most often than not, it is a sure method to get the attention they want from their owners. This method works since dog owners are often compelled to give in to the sweet whimpers of their four-legged friends. Realizing the weakness of their owners, this behavior encourages puppies to be even more persistent. However, Purebred Breeders LLC recommends that dog owners try to make an effort to curb this bad habit.

A spoiled pup can be an embarrassment in public. Put a stop to the incessant begging practice early on and your pup will be a well behaved and respectful canine within months. It is a group effort to reinforce this rule within the household, this means that every member of the family should cooperate to facilitate the smooth training process of the family dog.

Keep Him Busy

Dog owners can provide alternatives for their canines that will keep them busy and far away from the table during dinner time. Purebred Breeders LLC encourages owners to invest in chewy dog toys since they are perfect distractions for their four legged companion. There is a wide array of chewy dog toys available in pet stores across the United States, such as one resembling a chicken leg or a bone, that is a great distraction for your pup. It will keep him occupied as he tries to rip this toy apart and get to the supposed juicy interior.

Stocking up on a couple of chew toys is also useful in this etiquette training. Undoubtedly your pup will get tired of the plaything hence a new toy should always be hidden in the closet. Surprise your canine with a new toy as soon as you recognize he has neglected the current one. Purebred Breeders LLC believes that this method will spark your dog’s interest and keep him wrapped around his blanket and hauling his new gadget from room to room for most parts of the day.

Ignoring the Whimper

Purebred Breeders LLC agrees that teaching your dog not to beg can be a challenging task. Nonetheless, as the dog realizes whimpering is no longer effective he will comply with the new order. Train your dog to stay in his dog kennel or on his blanket and wait until he is called for meals. Training in some cases can be facilitated through professional help. It only takes dedication and consistency to teach your dog proper etiquette.

Purebred Breeders LLC believes that dog owners should rid their dog of this nasty begging habit since it makes them susceptible to harm. A begging dog stands a greater chance of being unfortunately tricked and poisoned by cruel people.  Moreover, it saves yourself from being embarrassed when guests come over for dinner and you can rest confident that a well trained dog is always admirable.

Start an Exercise Regimen for your Dog – Purebred Breeders LLC

All dogs need exercise. However, there a number of factors that will affect the type, frequency, and amount of exercise each dog receives. But with so many different dog types how can you be sure of the type of exercise that might be right for your dog? Just like people, dog breeds come with different personalities, some are friendly and energetic, for example, while others are good watchdogs and highly intelligent. In fact, some dogs are not suited for more than a daily walk. Therefore, as a dog owner you cannot push your little pooch or your mighty dog into a work out. This is why Purebred Breeders LLC want you to get to know your dog in a way that makes it easy to match the breed with the right exercise.

Get Professional Advice First

Purebred Breeders LLC encourages you to visit your dog’s veterinarian before starting a routine. Making sure your pooch is healthy and happy is definitely a number one priority. You should then check your four-legged friend’s social and physical strengths. Once you have determined that your pup is healthy enough, you can begin. Your vet can also make recommendations as to the best way to start a new exercise regimen.

Height vs. Might

Our team at Purebred Breeders LLC knows that each dog is different, so any exercise regime has to be matched to the type of dog breed you have. Two groups in particular are important to note: dogs with long backs and short legs as well as dogs with short faces. These types of dogs are often “exercise-intolerant”, may have breathing difficulties or have physical anomalies that make them fragile.

If your dog is mixed, determine his needs based on his dominant breed background. This will be more beneficial to your dog. There are many groups in which dogs can be placed, some may need a good number of exercises such as the Herding group e.g. Collie, while other groups may get enough exercise on their own such as the Terriers, Watchdogs (Rottweilers and Mastiffs etc.) and toy dogs.

The Hound group on the other hand is quite tricky since they were bred to be sporting dogs, so a daily walk and a twice-a-week rigorous work out should suit them fine. Surprisingly, there is a group for the non-sporting dogs and any dog that did not fit into the groups mentioned above that would probably end up here. Purebred Breeders LLC therefore feels it is important to learn as much as you can about your breed’s tendencies independent of his or her personal traits.

Heart Pounding Activities

Purebred Breeders LLC also wants you to have fun with your dog so do not just focus on the technical side of things, after all “a dog is a man’s best friend” and canines love to have fun! Luckily, the exercises for your furry little friend are almost endless. Some activities include jogging, fetching (dogs love to fetch- great for retriever type dogs but is not a good idea for dogs with long backs, since they are prone to back injuries), playing with other dogs in a park is a good way to socialize for both you and your pet. Swimming is another great activity especially for retrievers. Just be creative and your pet will be grateful for it.

6 Things Your Dog Can Teach You About Business – Purebred Breeders Reviews

Purebred Breeders reviews “Dog School” today where you will learn how to improve your business from your very own pet – your dog. This school is not filled with benches or blackboards, but rather an environment of happiness and a unique closeness between you and your favorite fury little pet. Believe it or not, there is much one can learn from a dog’s temperament, cuddles and enthusiastic greetings that can actually enhance the business arena.

1. The Sky is not the limit

It is so fascinating and inspiring that a dog can be born deaf, blind, or with some other unfortunate disability and still remains determined to reach his or her destiny; canines will also do whatever it takes to survive regardless of the difficulties. Purebred Breeders Reviews find that although the business world is filled with disappointments and obstacles that may deter you, you should never stop, determination is a quality to emulate from your dog.

2. Actually Listen

Purebred Breeders Reviews is convinced that no one can listen to you the way your dog can. Dogs truly listen, they care and they respond, and these are traits many of us hold most valuable. These are also traits that customers hold in high esteem. In fact, making this a part of your customer care brand and living up to it is sure to set you apart in the business environs.

3. A Warm Welcome

Another trait our team sees as important is a dog’s love for attention and affection. Plus, it is a simple joy for all dog lovers to see those four-legged beauties running to meet you when you get home. The people you work with and especially your clients will appreciate a warm and friendly greeting as well. Additionally, great customer service often starts with a pleasant personality.

4. Take it Easy

Having a great amount of patience in everything we do pays off and our dogs teach us this as well, especially when they are being taught new tricks. They may not get it at first, but when they keep at it, they will be compensated for the effort. Business deals, interactions, and planning can test your patience but if you keep at it, your hard work will pay off eventually.

5. Lyme a little

Work, work and more work can just add stress to your life. Relax and have a little fun. In the end you make memories, become happy and make the work a little lighter. Plus, if you add a few staff events and/or customer appreciation activities, both the workers and customers can benefit positively.

6. Always be Curious

Dogs search, explore, find new things and discover solutions. These are all traits the Purebred Breeders Reviews sees as vital for the survival of every business. Entrepreneurs must be willing to look at how to grow and improve their business in order to maintain success. Remember, innovation, versatility, and great problem solving skills are keys to longevity in any industry or market.

Purebred Breeders Looks at How to Select A Dog As A Gift

As much as we love the idea of each dog finding a “forever home”, Purebred Breeders is aware of the fact that not everyone is suited to owning a dog. This can be because of one’s lifestyle, economic constraints, or basic inability to devote the kind of care the animal needs. These are all factors to consider before anyone acquires a dog as a gift, whether for themselves or someone else. Here are six things Purebred Breeders would like each person to consider before they give a pooch to someone, or take one home.

  1. If the dog is for someone else, are you even sure the individual wants a dog? Even if an interest was expressed at some point it is still better to make sure the intended recipient still wants one. Purebred Breeders would like you to keep in mind that a child may have moved on after months of begging, and an adult may have ended up with a lot less time, so checking is important.
  2. Is the intended owner capable of taking care of a dog? This includes vet care, proper nutrition, required exercise, the necessary attention/affection, and the training the dog needs.
  3. Is the dog coming from a reputable source? Getting a healthy dog from a trusted source reduces the stress both owner and canine will endure during transition, so always check where the dog is coming from. This means that you have to avoid buying on impulse.
  4. Can the intended owner accommodate a grown dog? Unfortunately that are many four-legged friends in need of a permanent home, so consider buying or rescuing a grown dog if you are sure the intended owner can take care of one. Contrary to popular beliefs, Purebred Breeders would like to point out that older dogs can be trained, although they make take a bit longer.
  5. Can fostering work instead? The beauty of becoming a foster owner is that a dog in need of stability can receive it while he or she is waiting to be placed, and dog lovers can welcome canine companions without making a lifetime commitment. This is therefore a great way for persons to see if they can handle the full time commitment that comes with canine ownership before they get their own. Purebred Breeders believes this option is great for those who are unsure about whether or not this is a suitable gift, and would benefit all involved.
  6. Not every breed is the same. Purebred Breeders cannot stress enough how crucial it is for “gift givers” to always do research on the type of dog they have in mind, since different breeds will have different needs and temperament. The aim is to match the intended owner with a breed that is most suitable.

Could Your Dog Be Best In Show? – Purebredbreeders.com

Purebredbreeders.com knows that you love your four-legged friends and want the very best for him or her- a shiny coat, good doggy breath, no plaque build-up, short nails, clean ears and good manners. But, did you know that you truly might have a Dog Show Star on your hands? In a nutshell, dog shows will focus on the dog’s physical attributes including body structure and appearance. Other areas that are judged are your dog’s agility, temperament, height, weight, coat, colour, eye colour and shape, feet and tail. If you feel uncomfortable about “showing off” your dog, just remember that dog shows provide a great opportunity to show your canine pride as well as to appreciate other dogs.

Purebredbreeders.com would like to share some ways to help get you and your puppy started. Hopefully, This will make the world of dog shows easier to access for those of you who are interested. Be sure to:

  1. Get as much information on your dog’s breed from your breeder. Know what your dog will have the temperament to do/not do. You should also know what the standards are for your dog’s breed – guidelines make shows unbiased and if followed meticulously, you can have your dog sitting right there with the best of the best.
  2. Feed your puppy good quality food. Check the ingredients, so you know what is going into your dog’s body. Your dog should also be of good weight – not too skinned or too fat.
  3. Make sure your puppy stays well-groomed and health by getting professional cleaning done and taking your dog for regular check-ups at the vet.
  4. Keep teeth clean and nails trimmed.
  5. Frequently comb and brush your dog’s coat – this will keep it shiny, detangled and promote healthy coat growth
  6. Start practicing baiting and gaiting in your own backyard and when you feel confident that your dog has grasped this, take him/her to other places that have a lot distractions so that you can practice overall show training technique. You can even enroll in a local obedience club and also watch dog shows yourself to see how this is done.
  7. Practice makes perfect, so try your dog out in different shows as they come long. There really is no failing in dog shows because you and your pooch will have a great time no matter what. You will also be exposing your dog to this new type of environment and picking up useful tips that will make you and your dog even better in this arena.

You never know what hidden talents your puppy-pal may possess so trying a dog show usually won’t hurt. This aside, but Purebredbreeders.com encourages you to take care of your dog’s well-being regardless of breed, temperament, dog show involvement or the lack thereof. After all, your dog will always love you whether or not he/she is on stage and still needs the care!

Parenting a Child v.s. Parenting a Dog – Purebredbreeders.com

Purebredbreeders.com knows that parenting a dog differs from parenting a child in a lot of ways however, the two are alike in many aspects. The fact is, responsible pet owners take on a huge responsibility when they get a dog, and many of their obligations are very similar to those that come with having children. While many deep connections can be made, we find that we do not have to go beyond the surface for the similarities to present themselves.

How They Compare

Diet

Both dogs and children require a balanced diet for optimum growth among other things plus, the diet changes based on the age or stage in life. Purebredbreeders.com has seen where this may be a little more difficult for dogs with all the products on the market and the tendency to be better read on child nutrition. Added to this, premium dog foods and the healthier types tend to be expensive.

Healthcare

Healthcare is vital to the length and quality of a dog’s life. However, healthcare is not cheap no matter what species, gender or age one is. Vet care however tends to be a big issue because seemingly simple procedures can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Purebredbreeders.com also knows that while most parents will have health insurance for their kids, some dog owners have never heard about pet insurance, which makes this even harder.

Exercise

It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that kids stay active and fit. Dog owners also have this responsibility however, while schools, youth groups, camps and other kid centered activities promote movement, owners are often left up to their own devices when it comes to dogs. In a sense Purebredbreeders.com thinks there is a greater sense of responsibility to keep a dog active especially for energetic breeds that require more than one walk per day along with play time because it is easier for owners to overlook this.

Love, attention, and patience

Both children and dogs are equal in this area except that some kids will prefer distance and privacy especially as they age, while dogs will almost always want the physical closeness. The challenge for parenting children is finding a way to give love and attention in a way that won’t result in rebellion, and having the patience to understand what each stage of human growth and development will bring. The latter is the same for dogs however, love and attention is often straightforward and physical. Purebredbreeders.com does however bear in mind that some breeds require their space too.

Discipline, Stability and a Routine

The level at which these are achieved will differ based on a dog’s breed and stage, as well as a child’s needs, personality and situation combined. Ideally, the gift of (supposedly superior) human judgement that children have should help parents be a little less stressed in terms of routine and discipline especially when they know how to instill them. Dogs on the other hand require training and retraining at several intervals and their way of communicating and understanding makes the process difficult for many. Stability is a equal need for both; and the lack in any of the three can easily result in behavioral, emotional, and trust issues for both.

The Main Difference in Parenting

The main diffierence Purebredbreeders.com sees between parenting a dog and parenting a child is that parenting a dog is a lifelong commitment. Ideally adult children will go off on their own or at least assume the greater responsibility for their existence barring any condition that prohibits this, however, dogs will always need someone to feed, walk, groom, pet, train, and socialize/resocialize them. This said, a dog must be actively parented its whole life.

The key however is to not enable behavioral problems by not treating a dog like a dog. At the end of the day no matter how cute it is, Purebredbreeders.com would like to point out that it does more harm than good to treat a dog like a human child. Also, not doing so does not imply bad pet parenting since it is possible to give the great treatment to a dog without forgetting that he or she is in fact a dog.

How Dogs Teach Children Responsibility | Purebred Breeders

It has often been said that pets teach children responsibilities and dogs are often a tradition and popular choice of pet for children. In fact, parents, youth groups, camps and even schools with special programs are now using dogs to teach, instill or foster a variety of attributes in children and young teens. But Purebred Breeders is curious to know how exactly dogs help children become more responsible. It seems there are number of reasons, among them are the following:

  1. Taking care of a dog means having a routine and obligations that have to be adhered to.
  2. They become responsible for a living, breathing thing.
  3. There is a sense of accomplishment.
  4. They have the opportunity to learn empathy which can help them to think twice before doing something irresponsible to someone else.

How to Harness This Power

Parents or guardians play a big role in the success of this process. It must first be understood that the child is getting the dog under certain conditions. The child should then be advised on all the responsibilities that come with a dog. Purebred Breeders urges parents to outline literally everything. A dog will need to fed, cleaned up after, groomed, walked, played with, trained, socialized, kept hydrated, house trained, and petted. Healthcare is also vital. While the child may not be responsible for some of these (i.e. healthcare, training and socialization), he or she must be an active part of taking care of the dog.

Explain how often these must be done, why it is important, and what happens if the child does not keep his or her end of the bargain. This is also where Purebred Breeders believes parents ought to exercise judgment.  Remember that dog ownership will affect everyone, not just the young owner. Remember also that dogs need stability so only get one if someone is willing to take care of it if the intended owner no longer wants to, it is unfair for the pooch to be abandoned for this reason.

In an ideal situation the child will comply, even if unwillingly at first, and the two will begin to bond. Purebred Breeders feels once a bond is formed then the two are likely to be inseparable and soon the child will start to do what he or she knows has to be done, not so much because of the deal, but because of the friendship. As the young owner becomes more in tuned with the dog’s needs, emotions, and the sense of accomplishment from a job well done the child may extend these lessons to the world around him or her.

What Must Happen

  1. Ensure that the child feeds and walks the dog.
  2. Cleaning up after the dog must be the young owner’s chore.
  3. The child must understand that his or her responsibility to the dog overrides personal wants such as preferring to play video games or talk on the phone.
  4. He or she should be allowed to be a part of the decision making process so a sense of control is there to complement the sense of achievement when things get done.
  5. Purebred Breeders recommends that the young owner be praised for sticking to the deal. It is unwise to overcompensate. after all keeping the dog is the reward but acknowledgement for his or her work can help tremendously.

How to Prepare for an Older Dog – Purebred Breeders

There are often many challenges to adopting an older dog but this should not be seen as a deterrent. The truth is, older dogs need a chance to live a good quality of life too which means the idea should never be ruled out. Bear in mind however that understanding what to expect is vital whether you go to a shelter, acquire someone’s pet, or buy a dog that is beyond the puppy stage, so Purebred Breeders would recommend the following steps for anyone thinking about it.

Steps to Take Before Getting an Adult Dog

  1. Decide how you intend to get the dog. This way you will be able to know where you will be looking, as well as have a clearer idea of what obstacles to expect in terms of transporting the dog if arrangements are necessary.
  2. Decide on a breed, sex, and age. You may not care about the last two however, Purebred Breeders must point out that they matter, so take some time to see the challenges of a female as opposed to a male. You also want to see how a 1 year old differs from a 2 or 3 year for the breed you have chosen.
  3. Learn all you can about the breed. Purebred Breeders would like to point out that this should be done for a dog of any age because prospective owners need to understand what normally comes with owning a certain breed. The fact is, some people are simply not suited to some dogs and vice versa.
  4. Understand everything a dog will need and make those preparations. Clean and dog-proof the house close to the search since you may have to take the dog home almost immediately. Buy the necessary tools and needed items, designate the dog’s areas, and ensure that you are aware of all possible threats to the pooch so you can alleviate them. Finally, Purebred Breeders urges you to locate a vet or viable options before you go looking for your new dog.
  5. Go searching once all preparations are made. Purebred Breeders recommends that you examine each dog you like by looking at it closely to see if there are any physical challenges or tell-tale signs that something may be wrong, especially if you are unprepared or unwilling to take on such a responsibility. It’s also important even if you are, since you want to know what the issue is as early as possible. Next, ask questions about the dog’s personality and past since these are vital to understanding the dog.
  6. Purebred Breeders also recommends that you interact with the pooch on a few different occasions or ask for information on its socialization before taking him or her home, unless the process is time sensitive or frequent visits cannot be accommodated. Doing this allows you to see if the dog you met on Day One will be the same 10 days later.
  7. Take the dog home and start a balanced routine. Ideally, some obstacles should have already been dealt with, such as housebreaking, some level of socialization, and training basics. However, still start slow, be patient, use positive reinforcement and give the dog all the love you possibly can.

Purebred Breeders never supports the notion of getting a dog simply because it is free because there really is no such thing. Dogs take time, money, attention, responsibility, and dedication so only get one if you are truly prepared for dog ownership. Remember also that older dogs may be more settled than younger ones which is a plus, but the formation of a personality can be an issue. Retraining and resocialization may be necessary, patience is crucial, and you must be prepared to learn as much as you need to help your pooch adjust.

The Importance of Puppy Socialization – Purebred Breeders LLC

A well-balanced adult dog can only result from proper care, training and socialization. This is why all three factors are better introduced when young and should be consistent throughout the canine’s life. Socialization can often be taken for granted because we tend assume that dogs are always ready to adapt to new situations however, Purebred Breeders LLC would like to point out that that is not always the case.

When to Start and Why

The best time to start socializing a puppy is between the ages of 8 and 12 weeks. This time is optimal in a pup’s overall development so many things should begin at this stage for the best results, training is one such important process. This is also the best time for puppies to be taken into their new homes which means beginning socialization becomes inevitable because the pooch will have to be introduced to the new owner’s friends, family, and other pets where applicable. Purebred Breeders LLC suggests owners look at everything as a chance to socialize the pup.

In fact, no encounter should be taken for granted. Vet visits are good, even if the interaction is only between the vet and dog, and so are walks. Purebred Breeders LLC however recommends that precautions be taken to reduce stress and avoid harm to the pup. Overall, all should be fine as long as patience is exercised and owners do their homework on how best to approach the process.

Things to Remember

Start slowly to avoid overwhelming the pup since this can lead to withdrawal, fear, and possibly aggression if the pup feels threatened enough. Experts recommend that owners only expose pups to situations within their control, and that encounters start short then lengthen. There should also be no attempt to introduce a pup to large groups or busy surroundings until he or she has conquered smaller and quieter ones. Pups should also be protected from aggressive dogs, sick animals, unvaccinated animals, and the feces of other animals. Purebred Breeders LLC also advises owners to limit exposure until the pup is fully vaccinated. They are also urged to carefully monitor their pups in new situations and to remove them if distress is evident.

Why Full Socialization is Vital

Any dog that is not properly socialized is likely to be timid, fearful and withdrawn. Taken into adulthood these attributes can make things even harder on the pooch. Socialization serves to introduce the dog to the world around him or her, so the pooch understands how to interact with at least its own kind, exist with new humans, and learns to trust the multitude of feels, smells, and sights around. Purebred Breeders LLC therefore urges owners to start safely socializing their four-legged friend as early as possible and that they bear in mind that dogs need to learn about places as much as they need to meet people and animals.

Socializing an Adult Dog and a New Puppy | Purebredbreeders.com

Purebredbreeders.com has often stressed that socialization is vital to a dog’s life because the process will prepare the pooch to deal with new people and situations. The inability to adapt to new environments, trust new people or get along with other animals can cause much distress for a dog, lead to constant and unnecessary anxiety as well as possibly shorten his or her lifespan. It can even severely affect the quality of life the dog lives. But what happens when an adult dog is suddenly forced to share his or her home with a puppy?

Introducing a New Family Member

Just like children, dogs can feel threatened when a newcomer arrives. This means that an older dog that is used to being the only canine member of the house, or older dogs that are used to not having a younger dog around could feel intimidated, and even reluctant to accept the new pack member. A properly socialized dog should be easy to handle this however; one that is not fully socialized can make the homecoming a difficult time for all. The first thing to do is to introduce the incumbent(s) and the newbie. Purebredbreeders.com recommends that they not be left alone for the first few days, or even weeks, depending on the older dog’s reception.

Also, owners should try to refrain from giving the pup so much attention that the older dog feels neglected. Spaces and property should be clearly defined, both dogs should understand what belongs to him or her, and an effort should be made to get both to interact as much as possible. These supervised sessions are a great time to train both dogs so they know what is expected. An older dog would already understand certain commands, and the puppy’s training should be instrumental in teaching basic commands that will make it easy to reprimand, beckon, or engage the pup in play (depending on the age).

Remember that socialization is a process which means that if both dogs remain in the same household then the interaction will be ongoing. Owners therefore need to ensure that all dogs learn to get along, respect each other’s territory and learn how to share. An older dog may be skeptical to try; especially if the breed is naturally wary of newcomers, whether canine or humans. While on the other hand, puppies can be high-energy, rambunctious little bundles that can find mischief if allowed. Purebredbreeders.com urges owners to keep these things in mind, as well as breed temperament and the older dog’s unique personality while they try to get the dogs acquainted.

Encountering New Friends

A trip to a dog park, a vet visit, or a walk down the street means that pups and older dogs are likely to meet. Therefore it is important to understand how to introduce younger and older dogs even if they are merely going to be around each other for a short time. As with dogs of any age; the new encounter should start with a proper introduction then owners should watch for signs of anxiety (and know how to respond). In the long run Purebredbreeders.com feels that the training each dog has received up to that point, their experiences and the owner’s ability to act as needed will dictate how well the encounter goes. Ideally, the dogs will know how to proceed based on instincts and all owners will need to do is supervise.

Responding to a Fixation or Obsession | Purebred Breeders

It must be understood that a fixation or obsessive behavior over an object is a serious issue, no matter how funny it looks. Unfortunately, many owners are responsible for the condition’s progression in their dog because they either missed the signs or fed the obsession. Little things like your dog’s more than usual interest in a particular toy, another (smaller animal such as a cat), light beams, a ball, a person, or anything for that matter, can quickly grow into an obsession, so you should never enable the behavior. Please read on for tips (adopted from Cesar Milan) on what to do to respond in such a situation. Purebred Breeders hopes that these tips help, but if not, we ask that you seek the advice of a professional on dog behavior.

Tips on Handling Fixation

Identify the problem. Your pooch is likely to become glazed over, unresponsive and unaware of the things around him or her that usually brings joy. Purebred Breeders would like to point out that this is not a nice place to be mentally, so don’t be fooled into thinking your dog is having fun when he or she goes after the object being fixated on. Once you have identified a possible fixation, you must find ways to prevent it from developing further.

Purebred Breeders would like to point out that the best course of action is prevention. The beauty of prevention is that it either allows you to avoid the problem if you notice the signs early, or helps you to curb any worsening of the problem while you work to fix it. The easiest form of prevention is setting boundaries. Make sure your dog understands where he or she can go, how long he or she is allowed to play, and what he or she can play with. This said, do not spend hours playing fetch with a ball or stick your dog has a more than normal interest in. Do not whip out the flashlight to watch your pooch jump all over the place trying to catch the light it expels, and set up physical barriers to prevent your pooch from running out of the yard to chase the neighbor’s cat until he or she learns to leave it alone. These are just some of the more basic examples.

The key thing to realize is that a fixation or obsession usually develops when your dog links the object with releasing frustration, pent-up energy or anxiety. This means that paying attention to signs of stress, as well as providing sufficient mental stimulation and physical exercise, is vital to managing obsessions. A bored dog, or one with excess energy, can easily develop a fixation. You also want to learn ways to calm your pooch down at the first sign of a fixation episode, such as a stiffening of the body, since you are unlikely to get through to the dog once he or she becomes glazed over.

Safety First

If the fixation is an object, then it is best to leave it where it is until the dog is no longer interested and moves away. If you catch the dog at an early stage in the physical changes, then you may be able to give a command to leave the object that the dog will actually hear and heed. Never pick up the object, since this may force the dog to attack you or result in a bite. Children should also be taught never to touch a dog’s toys when he or she has them, or to try to pry something from a dog if he or she seems attached to it. Purebred Breeders also recommends that you try incorporating the object into obedience training, along with a command to leave it alone, and treats when successful. However, this must be done when the dog is not in an episode. You should also desist if seeing the object automatically puts the dog into fixation mode and seek professional advice.

How to Tell If Your Pooch has a fixation – Purebredbreeders.com

If you have a dog that displays obsessive behavior, you may have an accident waiting to happen. You must understand that fixations are almost like obsessions in human beings, so getting between a dog and his or her object of fixation can lead to an attack. This is why Purebredbreeders.com urges you to learn how to identify the signs of fixation or obsessive behavior, as well as how to respond. This post will deal with identifying the signs.

Some Signs Your Dog Has a Fixation

It is safe to assume your dog has a fixation if he or she is willing to face danger or self-harm in order to get to that object, be it living or inanimate. Dogs have been known to dart across roads to chase every cat, squirrel or ball they see, and have even been known to bash themselves against fences or even get dangerously entangled in the leash to get to objects. Purebredbreeders.com knows that some of this may seem normal to you, but your pooch is also likely to ignore the physical pain or discomfort that comes with their actions.

Added to this, your dog is likely to ignore any commands to stop, heel or come back. He or she will not respond when called, nor will your four-legged friend even be aware of your presence unless you attempt to physically bar the object of the fixation. Again, Purebredbreeders.com urges you not to do so.

In terms of energy and physical changes, your canine companion will usually get a glazed  look in the eyes, followed by a stiffening of the body. His or her energy will also change. The dog will become alert, start panting and may only move the eyes while searching for or trailing the object of fixation. The pooch may then dart off to find it or start displaying signs of pent-up energy if chasing after it is not possible. Some owners will notice a change to aggression or overwhelming sadness when the object cannot be found, so their dogs may resort to growling, crying or whining.

Overall, a fixation can make an otherwise intelligent dog abandon common sense, a sociable dog can lose the ability to properly socialize with others, a friendly dog can become threatening, and a dog who is usually highly engaged loses interest in everything except the object of fixation. Purebredbreeders.com would like to point out that the best way to identify if your dog has a fixation, and on what, is to get to know your pooch well, and observe any changes in behavior to see if it is normal or excessive. You must then try to link the changes to the correlating object. Once this is done, then step one is complete, and you can move on to step two, which is safely responding to the situation.

Getting Your Dog to be Comfortable in the Water | Purebredbreeders.com

Summertime means fun, frolicking, and plenty of encounters with water as we all try to cool off. It also means that dog owners everywhere are more likely to head to the beach, pooch in tow. They expect their four-legged friend to just jump in the ocean and be fine. Contrary to popular belief, not all dogs can swim. Even more shocking to some is that not all dogs even like to be in the water. Lessons can be given, but what happens when your dog is afraid? That is the issue Purebredbreeders.com would like to address today.

Fear of the Water

Just like humans, newcomers may be afraid of the water. This can endanger the animal, since he or she may thrash about wildly, stiffen or try to escape. You therefore need to learn how to calm your dog when in distress. Purebredbreeders.com recommends that you reduce the stress with these tips:

1. Start with a shallow area. This is bound to be less scary for your pooch and will give you greater control.

2. Try securing the dog by holding the sides or abdomen area so he or she feels safe while moving.

3. Be slow and steady so your dog will not feel pressured.

4. Carry a toy and set it in front of the dog. This will work as a focal point, calm the dog and even encourage movement towards the floating object.

5. Coax the dog gently each time he or she freezes up or shows signs of stress.

6. Praise and reward for a job well done.

Purebredbreeders.com believes you can have your dog comfortably in the water in no time once you use these tips. Whether you end up with a pro or just a regular dog-paddling pooch is another story, so take things slow and allow your dog to progress naturally. Above all, Purebredbreeders.com implores you to use this as a time to bond and have fun with your dog.

5 Most Common Dog Training Mistakes – Purebredbreeders.com

Many of us hear stories from friends, family, and colleagues about things their dog does that displeases them, or know someone with a dog we just do not like being around because of something they do. The problem in most cases is that one thing he or she does that irks us, and while we may love the pooch otherwise, we still find ourselves staying away. Purebredbreeders.com must point out that this unfortunate truth is not the dog’s fault.

In fact, experts agree that most undesirable dog behavior is caused by owners who make mistakes during training. Here is Tamar Geller’s list addressing the five most common mistakes and how to fix them. Geller is a dog behaviorist who gave these tips back in a 2006 interview. Purebredbreeders.com has decided to group them into two major headings in order to show the connection.

Purebredbreeders.com List A: Potty Training

1. Rubbing the dog’s nose in his or her mess

This action often leads to the dog becoming aggressive or fearful. Either way the pooch may simply start “going” in places you will not readily see. Your dog could also start consuming the waste to avoid punishment. Another downside Geller points out is the sudden refusal to use the bathroom while you are around, even in the right place.

2. Taking the dog inside immediately after eliminating

Dogs who know they will lose the freedom of the great outdoors the minute they are done using the bathroom will deliberately linger. Geller recommends that the dog be praised then taken on a walk instead, that way he or she will be more eager to ‘go’, and will be easier to teach how to ‘go’ on command.

Purebredbreeders.com List B: Addressing Undesirable Behavior

1. Disrupting play to punish your dog

Dogs that associate you calling their names with being punished are less likely to come when you call. Geller also points out that calling your dog while he or she is playing only to punish the pooch will not only make the dog stop responding, but it may also develop trust issues between the two of you. Instead, you should try building trust by calling your dog only to offer refreshments then sending him or her back out to play. Geller also warns against calling your dog to do something he or she does not like (such as nail clipping, teeth brushing, or ear cleaning) for the same reason.

2. Leaving the dog to “grow out of” bad behavior

Some persons ignore their dog’s behavior because they believe they will grow out of it. Geller as well as most dog experts strongly advise against this. A young dog is learning what you will and will not allow therefore ignoring the behavior is reinforcing it. That means the dog will not grow out of it and will instead be confused when you attempt to curb it later. Purebredbreeders.com would also like to point out that undesirable behavior should be addressed while it is occurring, not after.

3. Striking or inflicting pain to get the dog to learn

Negative reinforcement may be necessary at times, but you have to be careful what you use. Pain will only make a dog stubborn, fearful, or the exact opposite of anything you want it to be. Additionally, striking a dog in anyway will create a view of you that you do not want your dog to have. Positive reinforcement and pain-free ways of disciplining your dog exist and are far more effect.ive Purebredbreeders.com recommends that you find ones that suit you and use them.

How to Deal with an Overly Affectionate Dog | Purebred Breeders

An overly affectionate dog can become a problem if he or she is too clingy, otherwise most owners do not mind. Ironically, experts warn against reciprocating when this behavior is displayed because it does not mean the same in “dog speak” as it does in “human speak”. In fact, an excessive show of affection in dogs should be met with a firm but calm demeanor because we could be relinquishing leadership or feeding fear and anxiety. This is what Purebred Breeders found on the matter:

Identifying the Cause

A dog that suddenly becomes overly affectionate has an underlying cause and this is often a change that results in anxiety. A new baby, a new house, or even a new house member can appear to be some kind of instability that causes the dog to react this way. Even a change in routine; for example a work from home owner getting an outside job can cause this which is why Purebred Breeders recommends that your dog be eased into changes by being included as well as by being introduced slowly to the change (if that is the reason).

Based on what Purebred Breeders has learned the reason is simple; firstly, if the attitude came after a sudden move or you spending more time outside of the home the dog is simply not sure if you will always come back. Secondly, a new member such as a baby, roommate, or spouse could lead the dog to think that less attention will be given to him or her. Dogs who suffer abuse can be exceptionally clingy as well. Chances are the pooch will cling to one person more, and this is usually the person he or she deems to be the safest.

Signs that a dog is afraid of abandonment include greeting you emphatically even if you step out for a few minutes, crying whenever he or she thinks you are about to leave, trailing you, as well as waiting outside a room when you go in. A pooch who fears loss of attention will try to be the focus at all times and may even resort to wedging between persons, lying on your feet, working his or her head into your lap no matter how much effort it takes, or following you around.

Addressing the Problem

The affection should not be returned, at least not in the way you normally would because you do not want to reinforce the habit. Surprisingly, being as affectionate or petting the dog when in this stage can lead to a validation of your four-legged friend’s anxiety so it is best to wait until he or she calms down to acknowledge the dog. Purebred Breeders also recommends that you try to reinforce training commands such as sit or stay, and seek professional advice if the dog becomes aggressive or violent when denied.

Getting your Dog acquainted with New Places | Purebred Breeders LLC

A big part of owning a dog is making sure that he or she is socialized properly. This means your pooch should be adjusted enough to be comfortable in their own home as well in new places. Admittedly, changes or new introductions can cause nervousness, but this is where your confidence and “know-how” come in. Purebred Breeders LLC invites you to read on for tips on how to introduce your dog to new places so the experience can be more pleasant for both of you.

Moving to a New Home

A large challenge for dog owners is moving their faithful pets into a new home. Remember that this can be hard at first for the human members of the family because people often need a little time to adjust to the change each time they move. It is the same thing for your pet. Properly socializing your dog early can help with the sudden changes, but there are other things you will have to do. You can allow the dog to explore the new home completely, both inside and out. Purebred Breeders LLC recommends that you stay with your four-legged friend throughout the process, especially when exploring outside.

You can also provide your pet with a special place in the new home that is similar to his or her original spot. This place can be where the pet’s blanket, toys, water or food dishes are set up. It is best to use old belongings that have the scent of your old home since this will remind the pet of the old home and help him or her relax. Continue to explore on a daily basis until he or she is comfortable to move about. Purebred Breeders LLC strongly urges you to puppy-proof the new home if necessary if you are dealing with a growing dog.

Traveling to or Visiting New Places

Introducing your dog to temporary new places is another big hurdle. New parks, stores, and veterinarian offices can all make your canine companion nervous. Try to make the first few visits to a new place are short and offer your dog a friendly pat from time to time. A treat or two while at the new place can also help, but do not reward the pet on the way home or after returning home. This could make the pet want to leave the new place more quickly at the next visit. Gradually extend the time spent there until a full visit or trip is possible.

Socializing your dog when it is still young is the best way to ensure that new environments do not scare them as easily, but even older dogs with less socialization can learn to enjoy a fun outing. Always take the time to help your pooch get familiar with a new place before you leave him or her, and look out for signs of stress, nervousness or any kind of anxiety. Purebred Breeders LLC also urges you to go on walks outside of your regular route so your pooch can get used to the idea of seeing new places and people.

Purebred Breeders lists 3 Ways to Leave your Scent Behind

We’ve already discussed why your scent is so important to your dog, so you may be wondering: How do I leave my scent behind? This is actually very easy, and today Purebred Breeders will give you three simple ways to do so. While one is ideal, the other two work if you are not necessarily fond of tip number one.

Purebred Breeders leaving your scent behind dog

3 Ways To Leave Your Scent

  1. Leave a recently worn piece of clothing with your dog, or even a towel you used. You can leave this in his or her bed so your pooch can be enveloped by your scent, especially if it’s a pup. This will make it easier to deal with separation anxiety when it tends to hit the most, at nights. Purebred Breeders recommends that you avoid using new products around this time to make sure that your scent is recognizable. Introduce your dog to any new smells by allowing him or her to sniff you thoroughly while being petted, then have your pooch sniff the item being left. It may be best to do this at least a day before you leave so the new scent is not associated with you going away.
  2. You may not want to leave a piece of clothing or towel that you still want to use again, especially since you never know what will happen to it. Therefore, an old pillow case or piece of fabric can suffice. You can either sleep on them, rub them on you to transfer your scent, or spray your most frequently used fragrance on it. Purebred Breeders recommends that you introduce the item to your canine friend just as in tip one, and then leave the item behind when you depart.
  3. The last on the Purebred Breeders “3 Ways To Leave Your Scent” is to touch or play with as many of your dog’s belongings as you can. This way your scent is everywhere he or she usually goes, and it will be a part of everything your dog does for a while.

Why Leaving Your Scent Behind Is Important | Purebredbreeders.com

Dogs rely on scents for a lot of things; identifying members of their pack is one example. This is why many owners will notice that their dogs roll around on their clothes, beds, or towels as soon as they (the owners) have used/worn them. Some dogs will also run off to roll around in these items immediately after a bath. They will often do this for each human pack member, and even roll around on the toys of the other dogs in multi-dog environments. The same behavior may be exhibited with the spot the other dog(s) just left, or anything belonging to the other dog(s) with a scent on it. Purebredbreeders.com would like to point out that your pooch is merely ensuring that he or she retains your (or the pack’s) smell.

Purebredbreeders.com dog scent

Why Your Scent Is Important

Your dog will “collect and file” the scent of every individual he or she meets. This scent will help your canine friend remember the individual as well as the feeling that he or she was left with after encounter. The scent will immediately trigger this feeling the next time your dog and the individual meet, which is why a dog that is afraid of someone will react the same way each time the two cross paths, unless the dog is resocialized to see the individual as a friend. As a loving owner, your pooch will treasure your scent the most.

The main reason behind this is the association between you and comfort. Your scent will remind your dog of your routines together, the love, affection, and everything good that normally comes from you. This is one of the reasons experts recommend that persons leave something with their scent behind whenever they travel for extended periods. The familiarity creates comfort and makes the experience far less distressful for the dog.

Avoid Confusing Your Pooch

Everything you use on your body will form a part of your scent. That means your perfume/cologne, bath soap, lotion, regular foods, cigarettes if you smoke, and even your regular hair products are all associated with you. Sudden or frequent changes can lead to confusion, making it harder for your dog to quickly identify you or your belongings. He or she will eventually do so, but you still want to avoid unnecessary confusion if possible. Purebredbreeders.com recommends keeping your scent as consistent as you can, especially since this makes finding your belongings much easier for the pooch.

How to Keep Up with Dog Food Recalls | Purebredbreeders.com

There are many dog food companies around, and they are in no way equal. Some have years behind their names and a good reputation, while others may be inexperienced. Up until recently, most dog owners found comfort in knowing that buying a brand of food from a certain company meant never having to deal with the issue of recalls. Sadly, Purebredbreeders.com has seen a number of recent food recalls from a number of reputable players in the dog food industry.

Purebredbreeders.com dog food recallThis has made many owners weary of the fact that no one is ever 100% safe from mishaps. So how then do you avoid feeding your dog something that is factory tainted? Sadly, you are at risk of doing so if you buy commercial foods, but some brands significantly reduce this risk. The only other thing you can do as a responsible dog owner is keep abreast of recalls so you can act quickly. Purebredbreeders.com would like to show you some ways to do so:

  1. Subscribe to a reputable source for press releases or reviews for the dog food industry. These often provide information of new products, recalls, and breakthroughs. Purebredbreeders.com would like to point out that such a subscription can benefit you in other ways.
  2. Join your dog food manufacturer’s mailing list. Unfortunately, not all companies will have this, but most have some way of communicating with customers. Blogs are another way of doing this, as well as other social media platforms like twitter and Facebook, so Purebredbreeders.com recommends that you look out for these options. Some will also post the information on their main sites.
  3. Find a good dog news site or segment to follow. These often carry everything from the funny stuff to current events at the community, city, state, country, and global level. They also tend to update quickly.
  4. Buy your food from a designated pet store so you know where to go for answers. Pet stores (especially those that specialize in foods) are likely to be more involved than stores that just sell dog food among other things, so consider finding a pet focused store to buy from as these are more likely to post bulletins quickly.
  5. Sometimes you have to become your own detective. A quick internet search should help tremendously so Purebredbreeders.com recommends that you randomly search for newsfeeds. You can even follow the ones you find to get updates. Use search terms like “name of food recalls”, “recent dog food recalls”, “tainted name of food”, or even “dangerous dog foods in circulation”. Some searches can be general to keep you abreast of the issue overall, while others should focus on the products you give your dog since those are really what matters.

When Your Dog and Partner Just Don’t Get Along | Purebredbreeders.com

Like Purebredbreeders.com, many persons are fully aware that not everyone likes dogs. At the same time, even well-adjusted dogs may not like an individual. While this is often fine, it becomes a major problem when that someone is your spouse. A strained dog/spouse relationship can easily become the death of young romances, or strain marriages. So, while this may be hard, you will have to approach the situation with a firm hand, patience, and a high level of rationality.

Purebredbreeders.com dog partner

When Your Spouse Doesn’t Like Your Dog

Purebredbreeders.com recommends that you ask: “Is it my dog or all dogs?” because as unfortunate as it is, some people just do not like dogs on a whole. In fact, some do not like animals in general. The reasons may vary, and it is possible to try to have the two get along however, your partner must be willing to try. The situation can become impossible to deal with if said person has no intention of doing so. Luckily, some will “put up” with the dog and the relationship thrives despite the difference of opinion on the matter but this is not always the case. Any decision made should be well thought out since many dogs have been given away to new loving homes over this issue, and many relationships have ended where the couple reaches an impasse.

When Your Dog Dislikes Your Partner

This one is easier to change than the first situation, so you are lucky if this is the issue and not the reverse. Purebredbreeders.com must regrettable note that your pooch’s dislike for your spouse could be the dog’s way of telling you something is wrong about the person. The fact is, animals are excellent character judges so if your dog passionately dislikes your spouse, you may want to dig a little deeper. However, before you go playing detective, try to change the dog/spouse dynamic. After all, your pooch could just be jealous.

If jealousy, mistrust, or the feeling of abandonment are responsible for your dog’s attitude, then the way to solve this is to associate your spouse with all the finer things in a dog’s life. To do this, Purebredbreeders.com recommends a technique used by many trainers; have your partner control everything your dog needs, or likes for a while. This includes food, treats, toys, and even exercise or playtime. The idea is for the dog to see that your partner provides good things, therefore he or she cannot possibly be the enemy.

Your partner can also be affectionate towards your pooch as a way of showing that he or she “comes in peace”. The idea is to get the dog to see that your spouse is not there to subtract from the attention and love often received. Instead the dog will see your spouse as another person who administers love and affection. Purebredbreeders.com believes a great place to start is a belly rub, or scratching a spot you know your dog goes crazy for.

Seeking Help

Purebredbreeders.com understands that the process could be hard at first, but it is not impossible to get the desired results. Professional handlers can also offer tips on how to curb this behavior, so speak to one if you are able to. Vets and other professionals who work closely with dogs, especially your breed, can also give pointers on how to manipulate your dog’s regular tendencies to the benefit of all involved.

Stricter Protective Laws and Rulings For Pets – Purebredbreeders.com

Purebredbreeders.com dog lawsIt seems that animal owners everywhere are beginning to see signs that the law is on their side when it comes to getting justice for their pets. A court in Colorado just recently awarded a dog owner over $60,000 for the loss of her dog, and the New York senate has passed a bill for stricter punishment for animal theft. Both examples occurred this week, and are just two in a number of news releases that support the idea that the value of pets and animals on a whole is finally being recognized. Purebredbreeders.com is happy to see so much happening across the country, and hopes to see sweeping changes soon.

$65,000 Awarded for Death of Dog

While the details are unknown, the sum was awarded to the owner of an 18 month old pooch who was left under a table in her home to die. What Purebredbreeders.com knows is that the dog got loose while a maid from a cleaning service was present, ran into the road and got hit by a car. The dog was found dead hours later when the owner got home. Based on reports, no one was notified of the incident by the maid, and no attempts were made to get medical assistance for the dog. It is not clear to us if the dog was visibly hurt, or exhibited any signs of possible injury.

New York Senate Sends S.946 to the Assembly

S.946 is a bill that makes the theft of a licensed animal a felony (class E). Individuals brought to trial for these crimes will be tried for grand larceny. The bill was sponsored by Senator Carl L. Marcellino.

Purebredbreeders.com Weighs In

While Purebredbreeders.com will not jump to judge the maid’s actions (since we know so little), we will venture to assume that the hefty sum is likely more a result of the her inability to seek assistance than the fact that the dog died. Truth is, we as owners should do everything to secure our canine companions’ safety, and leaving the dog in a secured area may have been better. This is especially so if the maid and pooch are not familiar with each other, or the maid is not a “dog person”. Additionally, we highly doubt taking care of the dog was a part of the maid’s job (but we could be wrong).

Purebredbreeders.com therefore urges all owners to do everything they can to keep their dogs secured and safe. The fact is, a settlement cannot compensate for the loss of this dog, no matter how large. Our dogs (pets) are an important part of our lives and families, so we must protect them just as we would a human member.

As it pertains to S.946, Purebredbreeders.com can only hope that it comes into full effect. We would also love to see it adopted by other states, especially those with a high prevalence of theft and lax laws to address the issue. Unfortunately, we can only watch and wait for now.

Unwanted Dogs: Drop them off, Don’t Dump Them – Purebred Breeders

Purebred Breeders suitcase dogs

Purebred Breeders has decided to speak on the issue of having unwanted dogs/puppies because as undesirable as the topic is, this a reality for some. The fact is, some people end up with dogs by one means or another, but are not prepared for a long term commitment to a canine friend. Others choose not to get their dogs neutered, and then are unwilling and unprepared to deal with the arrival of puppies. While we strongly urge people to not take on a pet of any kind unless they have the means, time, and patience for one, we will accept the reality that it happens.

This in mind, please take all unwanted pets to a animal rescue home, shelter, vet or pet hospital near you so that they can advise you, or take the lovely little bundles off your hands. Purebred Breeders was beyond heartbroken to learn of 6 beautiful pups that were left in a suitcase along the road, just two blocks from the owner’s house. The pups may be fine now, but the story could have ended differently. Plus, the mommy dog is no doubt distraught.

A Brief Rundown of the Story

A female dog was seen milling around a suitcase, and people became curious. They started investigating with the expectation of finding something interesting, but Purebred Breeders is sure none anticipated what they discovered. The suitcase was opened to reveal 6 English bulldog puppies (3 boys & 3 girls). The female dog was actually the mother of the pups, and was fortunately tagged. The information revealed that her owner lived just two blocks away, and there was no doubt he was responsible for the puppies since his name was on the suitcase!

The owner now faces minor misdemeanor charges, and the puppies are being taken care of. Purebred Breeders is glad to know that there are persons already lined up to adopt these beautiful little things; too bad they are being held as evidence and cannot be handed over until this is no longer so. Our heart goes out to the mommy…we have a network of breeders, so we know that pups being sent to other homes is common. However, dogs are naturally protective of their own, and it could not have been easy for her stand outside that suitcase unable to nurture her babies.

There was a much easier, and more humane way to go about this. Do not risk jail time, hefty fines, and the stress that comes from making the news for a wrongdoing. A newspaper lined cardboard box dropped off at any group for animals might have been a longer journey, but Purebred Breeders is sure it would have definitely saved this person a lot. Locate a number and call any of the aforementioned persons or places. You may not want them, but we know someone else does. Give unwanted animals a chance, do not just dump them.

10 Ways Dogs Make Our Lives Better – Purebredbreeders.com

As dog lovers we often strive to do as much as we can for our canine friends, but did you know that they earn their place as well? This is not just for working dogs. In fact, in retrospect Purebredbreeders.com now believes all dogs are working dogs to a large degree. This will become more evident as the true medical benefit of being a dog owner becomes clear, since dogs are healers, physicians, therapists, and caretakers to those with special needs. Here are just 10 of the ways Purebredbreeders.com found that dogs help us be healthier or live a better life.

Purebredbreeders.com Dogs make life better

  1. Interacting with your dog for as little as 15 minutes can reduce serotonin production as well as cortisol levels. This means your dog is a natural, four-legged mood enhancer.
  2. There are studies that also show a reduction in blood pressure in hypertensive children as they petted their dogs. Adults have also been shown to have better blood pressure and manage stress better while interacting with their pets.
  3. Pet owners are less likely to be depressed, and depressed persons who interact with animals tend to show some improvement in their symptoms.
  4. Dogs help reduce stress during the work day. Purebredbreeders.com recently discussed this here in one of our posts.
  5. Approximately a third of the dogs owned by diabetics have the ability to sense when a dangerous drop in blood sugar is about to happen, and can actually alert their owners before it is too late. The exact science behind this ability is unclear however, more and more dogs are being trained to do this.
  6. Dog owners are less likely to be obese since daily walks require that they be physically active.
  7. Dogs are thought to be able to sniff out other health issues such as cancer, but what is even more remarkable is how studies in animal cancer cases (dogs and cats) are helping to pioneer studies in humans. So far, canine cancer has led to a better understanding in how some human cancers develop, prostate cancer being one, and could even lead to an evolution in human treatments.
  8. Better mental health from an increased tendency to interact with people. Some dog owners talk to others a lot about their pooch, or spend time swapping stories at the dog park, on walks, or at work. This helps them to keep a healthier, more stimulated mind, and lessens isolation.
  9. Taking care of a pet helps children cope with ADHD. An earlier Purebredbreeders.com post even looks at how dogs can help children with development disorders such as autism, behavioral issues, and other psychological, emotional or mental problems cope.
  10. The Xolo, a hairless dog from Mexico, is currently being used to alleviate chronic pain. The breed is known to generate enough body heat to help suffers from these conditions simply by lying with them. Some persons even go as far as to go about their day with the dog around their necks!

These do not even begin to scratch the surface. Purebredbreeders.com readily found some 30 ways in which dogs either help medically, or otherwise improve the quality of our lives. Admittedly, other animals can help with some of these, but so far dogs are consistent in all. In fact, we did not even have to go searching for “dog only” sources. Simply put, dogs are amazing! It’s no wonder they have been considered human’s best friend for so long.

Driving with your Dog on your Lap – Purebred Breeders Reviews

Purebred Breeders reviews driving lap dog

It’s something that Purebred Breeders Reviews sees often; an owner petting a dog as it lays or sits in his or her lap. While this is fine, add “while driving” to the end of that sentence and everything changes. As much as we adore dogs and love to see them get the attention they deserve, we really have to draw the line here. Luckily, the bill makers in Rhode Island are doing the same.

A bill banning the practice of driving with dogs on your lap is currently a hot topic there as a Cranston State representative attempts to make it illegal, resulting in a hefty fine for all violators. Peter Palumbo, the proposer behind the new piece of legislation, was inspired by a member of his constituent who saw someone driving badly as they attempted to see the road over their dog.

This is usually a space for light and informative entertainment, but Purebred Breeders reviews that this is beyond perturbed by this practice. We love our dogs therefore, we want them to be safe. This habit is not safe for anyone involved, so we applaud the state for even considering the bill. Whether or not it passes is another story. If Palumbo has his way, locals will be charged $85 and $100 for the first and second violations respectively. All subsequent offenses will incur a fine of $125 each.

Purebred Breeders Reviews hopes that more people will quickly realize that this is not only dangerous to dogs, but to humans as well. Everyone from the driver, passengers, passerbys, and other road users are placed in harms way whenever someone makes the decision to split their attention between their pooch and the road. It simply should not be done.

Being a responsible citizen and dog owner means transporting your dog safely, and doing everything you can to minimize the possibility of an accident in the process. Each trip with a dog on the lap goes against both responsibilities. Purebred Breeders Reviews urges their community of dog lovers who visit this blog, and those who are involved with us in any way to raise awareness among their friends, relatives, and colleagues.

Why Updating Your Dog’s Contact Details Is Vital | Purebredbreeders.com

Purebredbreeders.com microchip

Microchips are a great way to secure the return of your dog should he or she get lost. However, the case of Stephen and his owner Joseph Stremlau is living proof that just having a microchip is not enough. The information has to be updated in order for the device to properly carry out the function it was designed to do. Therefore, Purebredbreeders.com suggests that this may be a good time to update your dog’s chip if it has been awhile since you last did.

Stephen’s Story

Stephen is a 4-year-old beagle brought in from Japan by his owner who got, and outfitted him with a microchip, while serving in Japan. Stremlau is now back home and attending college, so the dog was staying with his brother at the time it got loose. The beagle ended up at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona or HSSA, where the chip was scanned, but that did not make finding Stremlau easy. In fact, the chip was last updated in 2010 while the pair were still in Japan. The center went to great lengths to find the owner through press releases, and even calls to the Davis Monahan Air Force Base just in case he was still in Japan. Purebredbreeders.com understands that the two were reunited after family members saw the press releases on TV.

What This Teaches Us

Purebredbreeders.com is elated that the two are reunited, both because a dog belongs with his or her loving owner, and because we have seen cases that did not end this well. HSSA did an exceptional job, but not many places have the time, passion, or resources to keep searching. Protect your pet even further by ensuring that his or her ID is updated, no matter the form. It is always best to secure a speedy and safe return as much as you possibly can; it is better for everyone involved.

“Zeutering” To Launch Later This Year – Purebred Breeders Reviews

Some people make the decision not to neuter their dogs because they have a problem with the invasive nature of the operation, fear of the complications, or a problem with removing a part of their dog’s body. If you are one of those persons, then Purebred Breeders reviews is happy to announce that a different way of neutering dogs exists, and will be available full scale sometime later this year. Referred to as Zinc Neutering (called zeutering by some for short), the option is an injection administered directly to the site, that takes its full effect within one month.

What is Zinc Neutering

Zeutering is an FDA approved procedure for pups 3 to 10 months old. It involves a mixture of zinc gluconate, L-Arginine (an amino acid), and purified water. Purebred Breeders review understands that the injection has been in use in other countries as well, namely; Bolivia, Columbia, and Mexico. It is far more cost-efficient than surgery, faster, and eliminates the threats that come from invasive surgery.

Is It Safe?

So far, the answer to this is “Yes”. However, there has only been about 300 zeutered dogs in the US. Purebred Breeders reviews that a sample this big is sufficient to notice problems, but we are still waiting to see what the experts say before drawing a final conclusion. Additionally, there is still some question about whether or not the injection quells some problematic behaviors in male dogs that are linked to the urge to mate. There is also no concrete word on whether or not it removes that urge overall. Still, the FDA approval is a boost of confidence.

Only the future can tell what the reception will be to the procedure, both by dog owners and non-owners who somehow seem to have a problem with seeing dangling male dog parts. Either way, an alternative now exists, and Purebred Breeders reviews is anxious to see what it truly means to dogs and their owners everywhere. We can only hope for the best.

Dogs Help to Relieve Stress At Work – Purebredbreeders.com

The VCU School of Business and Purebredbreeders.com agree; dogs are good for you! In fact, according the results of a preliminary study done by researchers from the institution, taking your dog to work reduces daily stress significantly. It also helps those around you who come in contact with your dog. The study made its way into the International Journal of Workplace Health Management this past March, and although its only preliminary, there seems to be enough to back the claim. Plus, anyone who works with dogs, takes their own to work, or works from home will agree that they just make the day easier to deal with.

Purebredbreeders.com Dog WorkA Brief Look At How The Experiment Was Done

The team used three groups of employees from Replacements, Ltd in Greensboro, N.C.: 1) non-dog owners; 2) dog owners who took their dogs to work; and those who did not. There were self-reports on stress levels throughout the day, as well as hormonal tests using saliva in the morning to help determine the actual levels of specific stress-related hormones present at the time. The experiment lasted for one week.

The Findings

Based on the team’s reports, owners were far more stressed on the days they did not have their dogs with them. They also found that people reported less stress on days they had contact with their dog (or someone else’s) during work. Those days led to levels of job satisfaction way above industry standards, leading to the belief that dogs can boost company morale in high-stress environments.

The Way Forward

As a network of breeders and canine lovers, Purebredbreeders.com knows how much an adorable or happy pooch can influence our days. Dogs are entertaining, and somehow always know when something is wrong. They also tend to want to please us, are loyal, and are just so cute that often looking at them brightens our day.

This is the power that the VCU School of Business thinks can be harnessed in the workplace. It is also a power that has been harnessed in many settings in which service dogs are used; most notably as performers, those working with children, troubled teens, and veterans, as well as dogs used to help those who are sick.

The study will now have to be finalized, but overall it touches on something many people already know even if they have never really thought about it. Purebredbreeders.com hopes to see the study done on a broader scale to help more people see how well their canine companion can help them do their jobs. We also hope that these findings help businesses devise policies to boost employee satisfaction and morale, although we are aware that other factors will play a part in the decisions made.

Things to Consider before Your First Visit To A Dog Park – Purebred Breeders LLC

Purebred Breeders LLC agrees that a dog park makes it possible for dogs to roam, run around, and socialize with other dogs. They also create a safe environment that substitutes for large yards where owners lack this, as well as provide happy social experiences for pooches that live in single dog families. However, we are fully aware of how quickly a nice visit can go sour if owners do not know how to plan for each trip. This why we recommend that you think about the following before your first visit to ensure that the experience is one enjoyable for everyone.

Purebred Breeders dog parkIs the facility suitable for me and my dog?

The trip can be a wasted one if either of you have a bad time. This is why Purebred Breeders LLC recommends that you visit the park beforehand. See how the area is built or laid out, whether or not there are people on duty to monitor, assist or answer questions you may have, and what rules they have that you might be displeased with. Look if bags are provided to clean up after your dog, ensure they provide water if you are not planning to bring your own, and see what facilities they offer for your dog to get some extra exercise or just play. Also try to figure out the best time to take your pooch, and look around to get an idea of what to expect from the other dogs and owners.

Is a dog park a smart idea based on my dog’s temperament?

Aggressive dogs really should not be taken to a dog park, even if you are keeping him or her on a leash. Purebred Breeders LLC is not trying to be  negative, but we understand that canines respond to the energy around them, and your dog’s aggressive energy can negatively affect others. He or she could easily trigger fights without getting into any.

Will my dog be comfortable?

Shy dogs may have a dreadful time being around a lot of other dogs, as well as people. While we do not recommend that any dog misses the opportunity to run free and play with its kind, we also understand that it can be painful to transition. This is why Purebred Breeders LLC agrees that shy dogs should be brought during slow periods, so they have less to contend with. They should warm up after a while, especially if you patiently show them around a few time so they can become familiar with their new surroundings. You can “test” busier periods, and revert to “off peak” times if this does not work.

Purebred Breeders LLC knows finding the right park, time, and approach may turn out to be a period of trial and error, especially if you are new to the overall area, but you should never be discouraged. The first visit is normally the hardest, so you should be able tell if you it is worthwhile once you visit the park before bringing your dog. We also recommend that you brush up on your dog park etiquette to ensure that you and your dog do not create a negative experience for anyone else.

Size Influences Your Dog’s Nutritional Needs – Purebred Breeders LLC

Purebred Breeders LLC Dog Size Nutrition

Responsible dog owners do their best to feed their loveable pooch a balanced diet based on their age. They understand that puppies eat foods made for puppies, adult dogs eat foods made for their age bracket, and now dog food companies are catering to seniors with special needs. Most also understand that their canine friends should not be given human food since their bodies may not be able to take it. While Purebred Breeders LLC commends this effort, we feel that is is necessary to point out that it is not always enough. Did you know that a dog’s nutritional needs depend on its size and breed as much as it depends on its age?

The Truth About Doggie Nutrition

It is important to feed your dog in a way that helps to lengthen his or her life, and reduce the stresses that can come from genetic predispositions. This means that you should take into consideration what your dog is prone to due to its breed or size. Small dogs tend to burn food quickly hence need more food per pound than bigger dogs, while big dogs are prone to joint problems. This is why Purebred Breeders LLC stresses that each bowl of food served should cater to these varying needs.

Small dogs need more food (in excess of 2000 calories per day), but have small stomachs. Additionally, overfeeding can lead to health problems, while too little food can cause issues such as muscle tremors, seizures, lethargy and even death. The best way to address this is to feed your small dog calorie-rich meals between three to four times per day.  Large amounts of antioxidants are also important.

Large dogs may require only around 400 calories daily, and should be given foods that cater to their predisposition to developmental orthopedic disorders. This includes meals that have a more balanced ratio of calcium to phosphorus. The phosphorus and calcium level should be slightly less than other foods, and the calorie provided should also be lower. Purebred Breeders LLC recommends foods with chondroitin, glucosamine and other joint care  ingredients, especially for seniors.

Purebred Breeders LLC urges you to speak with your vet for individualized care. Both dogs will need full nutrition, although some types will need more of a specific nutrient then others. Extend your dog’s life and make it as pain-free as possible by learning all that you can.

How Dogs Help Families and Kids – Purebred Breeders LLC

Purebred Breeders LLC Family Dog

Purebred Breeders LLC is proud of the work it does as a network of responsible breeders.

This is because we know that each of our puppies is more than just a pet. With our training they each become a valuable part of a deserving family, and contribute greatly to the well-being and development of all those who are involved in the care process. It has long been our belief that dogs are good for the whole family, and in particularly children. Today we are going to show you why we still hold that belief, and ways a new puppy can improve your life.

Benefits to the Family

At the most basic, dogs are great fun. A well-trained and balanced canine companion is entertaining, always there when you need company, can sense when you are down, and will always try to cheer you up. They keep you happy with everything from performing tricks, to cuddling up to you, begging for treats with their adorable eyes and expressions, and developing little antics based on their personalities.

Purebred Breeders LLC knows that taking care of a dog can be hard work. It can also require behavior modification to ensure that each member in the family understands what to never do to the family dog, no matter what size. This is why dogs have the ability to teach children responsibility, and can help with their behavior. They also learn what it means to take care of a living being besides themselves, and how to be compassionate.

Dogs, Charities, and Child Development

We here at Purebred Breeders LLC were elated to learn that a group such as Dogs Helping Kids exists. This charitable trust has several ways of using dogs to aid the development, socialization, and re-socialization of children. The trust now uses dogs to teach responsibility, empathy, respect, and above all, nonviolence. This remarkable feat is achieved through talks, workshops, and educational courses done with dogs that are highly trained.

How charities are using Dogs To Help Troubled Teens

Dogs Helping Kids has been extended to help troubled teens who have been locked out of the regular educational system. This is done through a one year course in which teens between the ages of 14 and 16 are taught how to address emotional and behavioral issues. Purebred Breeders LLC is especially impressed with this initiative because it highlights the role of dogs in helping teens through the process of positive behavior modification.

Dogs and Autism

There has been much skepticism about the role of dogs in helping families cope with prolonged life-defining health conditions. This is why Purebred Breeders LLC is so glad that studies are now concluding that dogs are a tremendous help to parents and caregivers of children with autism. A University of Lincoln case study has revealed that dog owners with autistic children feel less overwhelmed by the condition because they have the companionship of their dogs. These parents also notice that their dogs help to improve their children’s behaviors; another reason for the decreased stress. This is mainly in terms of getting them to eat, go to bed, and lessening tantrums.

With all these benefits why wouldn’t you bring home a loveable pooch for the whole family to enjoy? All it takes is finding one with the right breed and personality for you and your family and Purebred Breeders LLC can help.

#6:       Massachusetts

Purebred Breeders Boston Massachusetts

Boston:

If you’re going to be in the Boston area with your four-legged friend, take a ride with City Water Taxi, where dogs are welcome!  Purebred Breeders reviews this attraction because it is 3 hours of fun; it includes a 25-minute boat ride to Boston Harbor Islands where upon arrival your dog can play freely and off-leash.  The cost per person is $35 but dogs and children under 12 ride for free.  Depending on the time of year you go, you’ll have a completely different experience, so if Boston is a place you visit often, consider making this island trip at different times of the year.

Gloucester:

Dogtown Common has the remains of an old, abandoned town and its name comes from that same origin.  It got its name because as the town was deteriorating, only dogs remained in that area.  This area is very unique to Gloucester, and the area covers 3,000 acres of trails and historical sites that your dog can join you on or off-leash.

Salem:

When in Salem, do some ghost hunting and join your furry friend on this spooky adventure.  Haunted Foot Steps Ghost Tour allows well-behaved leashed dogs to join their tours, which run through the months of May through October.  Dogs are welcome to join any tour they like except for those in October; because of Halloween, it is their busiest month for ghost tours.

Gourmet Dog Treats

Pet owners who buy presents for their pets spend an average of $46 on their presents.  Here are some popular trends this year in the world of dog gifts.

Listed in first place as the most common present, treats are a big hit this holiday season.  As the organic trend grows, maybe pet owners are buying holiday-themed organic or all-natural dog treats, anything from bone-shaped dipped dog treats, doggy cupcakes topped with icing, to mini doggy cannoli with sprinkles, all made specifically for their digestive systems.

Twitter-related Dog Gifts

Purebred Breeders knows it may sound strange but many of the popular gifts this season are related to Twitter.  By buying a dog tag with this functionality, you are able to know when your dog is barking and what he’s up to even when you’re not around.  The collar will send you messages to your home computer as well as send you a tweet about what the dog is doing!

A very useful dog gift relating to Twitter this season is the Tweeting Dog Bowl, the bowl will send you a tweet when it needs to be replenished.  This is good for pet owners that may be gone for the holidays and need to advise a neighbor as to when the dog’s bowl needs to be refilled.

Don’t leave me home alone

We have all been through the guilt pangs of leaving our beloved four-legged companion alone when the reality of life summons. Separation anxiety or the visible stress that manifests itself in dogs within 30 minutes of the pet parent’s departure is a common condition in canines. It is said that 10-15% of dogs suffer from this kind of anxiety. While this condition is a challenge to fix, it certainly isn’t impossible and can be easily conquered with a little bit of patience from your end.

PUREBRED BREEDERS ASSISTS ANGEL DOG RESCUE, INC

Purebred Breeders, LLC

Erick Graubard

marketing@purebredbreeders.com                                                                       FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cooper City, Florida – Purebred Breeders, a network of reputable and trustworthy dog breeders, has helped Angel Dog Rescue, Inc. this April. Purebred Breeders has donated $500 to the rescue as part of their monthly donation program in their initiative to support our canine companions.

Angel Dog Rescue has been in operation since 2005 and has helped countless dogs in Georgia and Alabama, mostly around Quitman County and Barbour County, as well as the surrounding areas. Their purpose, among providing care and shelter for their dogs, has been in education and action for humane treatment of animals and pet overpopulation.

The rescue had a fairytale start, taking their name after a true canine hero. According to them, an abandoned Redbone Coonhound in Georgetown, GA, took care of other abandoned puppies. They named her Angel Dog because she guided the puppies, helped them find food, and stood aside while they ate. She carried on with her ministering until she was too sick to move, and then went into hiding. In honor of the pooch, the rescue took on her name.

As for the donation, it will be used at Angel Dog Rescue’s discretion, which could include, but is not limited to, vet costs that include vaccinations, treatments for diseases or injuries, as well as for spaying or neutering their animals.

Purebred Breeders’ donation program’s spokesperson, Jeff Hill, commented on the importance of rescues like these. “Between 5 and 7 million animals are abandoned to shelters each year, most of which are barely making ends meet. This is why supporting shelters is so important, so that there are places for these pets to go to while awaiting their next home.”

Preparing for Hurricane Season with Your Dog

In the United States, June 1st is flagged as the official start of hurricane season. If you live on the Gulf or Atlantic coasts, you already know this. But knowing and preparing for this season are two different things. Many people usually wait for the first storm to hit before they prepare their things, as well as their pets. Purebred Breeders will help you in this aspect. You should be prepared even before the hurricane season starts. It is best to be prepared than cram and panic when the first major storm hits your area.

Things to Do

All natural disasters are frightening, which is why you should prepare for them while you still can. This could make it safer and easier for both you and your pet. Here are some things that PurebredBreeders.com could give you as tips.

1)   Make a plan as to your desired course of action. Be prepared with your own course of action that you could easily follow right away. You should prepare your supplies beforehand and put them in a place that is safe and could be accessed easily. Similar to storing a flashlight, extra batteries, and candles under your kitchen sink for blackouts, you will not be scrambling around to look for those essentials when you need them.

2)   Stick to your plan. When you come up with your plan, be sure to stick to it. If not, you may be putting yourself, as well as your pet, in danger. If you planned to leave your town once the first signs appear, then you should follow through. Many people share in their Purebred Breeders reviews that they often meet accidents when they change their minds and plans midway through a storm.

3)   Prepare your dog’s kit. The kit that you will be preparing for your dog is not that different from yours. Basics would include a water supply for up to three days, food that is non-perishable, a can opener, litter and litter box, plastic bags, puppy pads, a sturdy carrier, medical records and medicine for the both of you. These should be placed inside waterproof containers. You should also bring an extra leash, as well as a picture of your dog in case, in worst cases, that you get separated with him or her. It would also be helpful to put a tag or submit your dog for a microchip placement to make him or her easier to recover if ever he or she gets lost.

4)   What to do when staying in or going out. If you are simply at home, you should keep your dog on a leash or inside the carrier. This way, you do not have to fuss when the need to evacuate arises. Remember that amidst the commotion, your dog will be very anxious or even petrified. You do not want to track your dog amidst the chaos. Be sure to be tuned in to the latest news. If you are told to evacuate, do so right away. You can ask Purebred Breeders for more tips.

Be calm. Remember that whatever your plan is, it is important to be calm. Purebred Breeders, LLC emphasizes the fact that your dog will be able to sense your emotions, so be calm if you want your dog not to panic with you.

Teach Your Dog to Stop Begging

Dogs, are by far, one of the most adorable creatures. Deemed as man’s best friend, a dog will easily fill a home with fun and loyalty. But then, due to excessive pampering, a dog may become accustomed to being given what they want as long as they beg. This could be quite a problem in the future for the dog owner. Purebred Breeders aspires to help out families who face this type of problem, as well as other problems that may arise related to training one’s dog.

A Complex Situation

PurebredBreeders.com says that teaching a dog to stop this type of behavior may come as a challenge to many. Come to think of it, you were the one who taught your dog to beg in the first place. This is also your responsibility to teach your dog to stop begging, especially for table scraps.

Dogs tend to enjoy the same types of food that their masters like, which is why you should not be surprised if your dog is drawn to the food that you are eating. Though the practice could be cute at first, in the long run, many Purebred Breeders complaints contain this type of concern.

Many Purebred Breeders will tell you that cannot really blame your dog for begging while you are eating. However, there are many owners that find it uncomfortable when their dogs sit under the table and their dogs give them hopeful, begging, and drooling looks.

How to Deal with This

Here are some simple tips compiled from various Purebred Breeders reviews:

  • Avoid giving your begging dog food. Even if your dog whines and gives you that look of sheer longing to be given food, be strong and do not give in. Though this seems like common sense already, many people always give in when their dog starts whining at the table. Giving of food to a whining dog is already a form of affection, which is a type of positive reinforcement. Your dog will soon learn that no matter how he or she tries to beg, you will not give him or her food.
  • Ignore your dog when he or she is begging. Begging is a way for your dog to seek attention. Do not talk, touch, or make eye contact when he or she is begging for food.

To make training more effective and successful, you have to be very consistent. In order for your dog to remember that begging behavior will not get him anywhere, you should be consistent with that every time. If you are inconsistent with your training, your dog will also be inconsistently obedient.

  • Patience is the key. Remember that it is rare for dogs to be able to change overnight. Training dogs require a lot of patience. You have to be very patient when training your dog not to beg anymore.
  • Refrain from feeling sorry for your dog. Since you are feeding your dog, you will know that he or she is well fed. He or she is not, in any way, in danger of getting hungry if you do not give in to his or her begging.

PUREBRED BREEDERS SUPPORTS THE CAUSE OF SAVING DOGS ABANDONED IN EVERGLADES, FLORIDA

Cooper City, FL – Purebred Breeders is a national network of qualified, professional dog breeders that seeks to place healthy, happy purebred and designer breed puppies into loving, forever homes.  Purebred Breeders has donated $679 to 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, an organization that seeks to save and rehabilitate estranged and abandoned dogs that have been left in the Everglades area.

100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida was featured as Purebred Breeders’ February rescue on their Facebook page, in which every “Like” towards the page equated to a dollar donated to the cause.  The 501(c)3 organization is dedicated to their mission of saving these dogs, as their website states:

“Since September 2011, we have saved more than 400 dogs and 30 cats from a horrendous existence in the wild. We have conducted numerous ‘search and rescue’ missions, where we drive into the area and collect as many dogs as we can on a single day. Our most ambitious rescue to date yielded more than 30 dogs in serious need of food, water and medical attention.”

These dogs we are saving want belly rubs, they are not feral,” commented Amy Joy Roman, President of 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida. “Please help us. Help these animals. They deserve so much more than this. We are so much better than this.”

The donation will be going towards the care and re-homing of these abandoned dogs.

Don’t Believe Purebred Breeders Rip Off

If you haven’t already heard, there have been some claims that people were victims of a Purebred Breeders rip off. These allegations have been proven to be wholly and completely untrue. There was nothing in those accusations that held a modicum of truth, and at worst it was due to some form of misunderstanding. Above all else, though, is the fact that the company does not have the business model of a rip off scheme.

First of all, the standards and policies set by the company are some of the strictest in the nation, sometimes even more so than the federal laws and regulations that govern breeding practices. They screen all of their breeders beforehand to make sure they keep to these standards. This is their way of protecting customers from breeder rip off, as only the best of the best from across the nation are chosen to work with the company. Through the thorough screening process, and the fact that the puppies are checked by licensed veterinarians, Purebred Breeders rip offs are nonexistent.

Besides, nothing in the way the company handles business can be considered as a rip off. First of all, the way all the information is available to the public shows that they have nothing to hide; they are straight up and honest about what they do, so you never have to worry about Purebred Breeders fraud. A business trying to rip you off would hide as much information as they can, giving you just enough to take your money. They even offer a guarantee on the health of the puppy, if you were just in it for the money, why offer a guarantee that you could eventually take to court if the other part does not honor it? To say this business model is just another form of a Purebred Breeders ripoff is to say this company is trying to lose and get caught, but obviously that is not the case.

This is a legal and legitimate company that is trying to help families find canine companions. The only real Purebred Breeders ripoff is the fact that you aren’t able to take home every cute and adorable puppy you find on their website. It is almost impossible to pick just one puppy to take home, and some people even break down and buy two, but that is just a testament to how serious and dedicated this company is to providing a source of happiness to families. To claim they are in any way or form participating in a Purebred Breeders rip off is ludicrous. Find out for yourself today.
